Formerly, the Kent Center, Thrive Behavioral Health has delivered mental health and substance abuse services to children, adolescents, and adults since 1976. Thrive provides wraparound treatment programs through an integrated behavioral health philosopy in an atmosphere of dignity, respect, and confidentiality. It's staff serves more than 4,000 Rhode Island residents each year and operates many group homes and supervised apartments situated throughout Kent County.
Its case management, outpatient counseling, crisis intervention, community housing programs, health home, and primary integrated care are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Thrive is a 501(c)3 not for profit, is a certified Rhode Island Medicaid provider, and is licensed by the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilites and Hospitals (BHDDH), and the Rhode Island Department of Health.
Crisis Response Services: Thrive performs outreach to provide therapeutic services to businesses, schools, community organizations, and individuals in the aftermath of a traumatic event such as fire, robbery, accident, or suicide.
Court Diversion Programs: Thrive works in collaboration with Pre Trial Services in Rhode Island's first and only Veterans Court. Veterans and individuals with a history of trauma are assessed and offered treatment in place of possible incarceration. Includes TAMAR for Survivors of Trauma and TAMAR for Veterans.
Emergency Services: The Emergency Services Triage Line is staffed by licensed Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs), 24/7 to assis individuals experiencing a psychiatric emergency. Thrive provides a trauma-informed approach to crisis intervention; and provides community emergency assessments, works with local schools and police. Thrive is an active member of the Warwick Police Department's Mobile Crisis Response Team.
Family Support Services: Thrive’s staff provides in-home and office-based family therapy and parenting skills classes.
Hillsgrove House & Employment Programs: Rhode Island's first certified Clubhouse, Hillsgrove House provides a healthy and restorative environment for adults with mental illnesses who seek a fulfilling, rewarding, and productive lifestyle through a friendly and supportive community. The Clubhouse model promotes the concept of membership, a sense of belonging, and the right to self-determination for its members.
Housing Services: As a Federal Housing Authority, Thrive administers a Mainstream Housing Choice Voucher program for people with disabilities and is a certified sponsoring agency for Rhode Island Housing’s RoadHome rental assistance program. Thrive and its subsidiary companies develop, own, and manage apartments and houses that are available for rent by Thrive clients and the general public.
The Eleanor Briggs School: The Eleanor Briggs School is a leader in the field of special education and mental health for children whose behavioral and emotional difficulties significantly impede their progress in public school. The Briggs School is known for its strong clinical component and thus considered one of Rhode Island’s premier special education schools.
