Niche Services

Outpatient Services:  Outpatient Services are designed to treat persons who are suffering significant psychological stress and symptoms in their lives. These services include individual, group and family therapy; parent and community education; and consultation with schools, physicians, etc. Outpatient Services staff work with individuals and/or families to help with a variety of problems including anxiety, depression, obsessions and compulsions, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Emergency Services:  Because mental illness so often goes untreated, it’s important to make services easily available and to seize every opportunity to start a person on the road to recovery.  Emergency services is a 24 hour per day, 7 day per week service for persons who may need short-term, time-limited services including: walk-in clinical assessment, telephone clinical screening, triage, crisis stabilization, brief treatment, crisis case management, emergency evaluation for hospitalization, psychiatric assessment, and others. Services are provided by psychiatrists, licensed mental health professionals, clinical nurse specialists, registered nurses, peer counselors, and/or case managers.

Substance Abuse Treatment: This specialty program treats adults who have chemical abuse or dependence problems, as well as mental health issues by providing individual and group outpatient counseling, including motivational interviewing and other evidenced-based approaches. These services are provided by outpatient therapists, drug counselors, psychiatrists, registered nurses, and/or case managers. Residential treatment, de-tox, and methadone maintenance are not offered, but if needed, the SATS program works collaboratively with other providers to link clients with these services. We work with CODAC, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation provider, to augment our own substance abuse treatment program.

Community Support Services:  Our Health Home Teams integrate behavioral health and healthcare services to improve our client’s mental health, substance abuse and health outcomes.  Regular home visits, medication monitoring, education and care coordination in close collaboration with their primary healthcare providers are just a few of the services provided.

Integrated Supportive Employment Services: An evidence-based, individual placement approach assists clients in obtaining competitive employment. We believe that all of our clients can work and participate in meaningful and fulfilling activities of their choosing.

Correctional Re-entry Services:  Newport Mental Health works with law enforcement, correctional personnel and the courts to help offenders to obtain treatment when needed, which has been shown to reduce recidivism.

Phoenix One Club:  Newport Mental Health was the first community mental health center day treatment program in the state.  Our program offers an all-day, welcoming environment where clients may socialize, receive case management, nutritional and rehabilitative services and otherwise participate in group activities that promote wellness and recovery. Monday through Friday members also receive a healthy lunch.

Safe and Affordable Supportive Housing Apartments Program:  Newport Mental Health offers adults with psychiatric and co-occurring behavioral health disabilities just the right balance of independence and assistance for their individual stage of recovery. Newport Mental Health owns and operates a number for supported apartments for people with serious behavioral health needs who were formerly homeless. At Washington Square in Newport, we work closely with the McKinney Homeless Shelter, Washington Square Services Corporation Transitional Apartments and Church Community Housing to provide supports to persons who are homeless and who are residing in emergency shelter beds and transitional housing.

The Anita Jackson House Group Home:  AJH provides supervised residential services to 14 adult residents with more serious mental health support needs.  Our other residences in Newport and Middletown offer different levels of supervision and support combined with on-site mental health counseling, substance abuse services, case management physical healthcare, food and vocation services and referrals.

Pharmacy Services: Newport Mental Health is the managing partner of Horizon Pharmacy LLC located at 2756 Post Road, Warwick, RI.  Horizon Pharmacy LLC provides specialized Medication on Time medication packaging for long-term clients who need assistance with taking their medications.  Outpatient mental health clinics, group homes, assisted living facilities and nursing homes may contact Horizon pharmacy at www.horizonpharmacyri.com to learn more about our pharmacy services.
